Notes: Made for waywardmixes's 14th challenge: journeys. I tried to do something different, instead of focusing on a particular character these are songs that remind of the show's atmosphere, with an emphasis on the sea traveling.

About Vikings is the tale of Ragnar Lodbrok, a Viking who wants to explore what's east of Scandinavia and who leads the first raids into Britain. A central theme in the show is that the characters are not just warriors but also explorers who used new kinds of ships and new instruments to navigate the ocean.

Thanks! I was rushing to get it done before the deadline, as you said it's a bit hectic rn, but I'll try to get a download link up. Most upset at the lack of other Vikings mixes tbh, Vikings is an excellent show and needs all the mixes.

Man, they show Viking GPS in the first ep, that thing was cray. Plus yk the actual Vikings trying to smash your face with an axe. Nope staying on dry land and listening to music for me have a safe trip bye bye.

It's hard for me to properly comprehend this mix, since I haven't seen the series themselves... I read a little about it and it seemed a bit violent, which goes against the peaceful feeling I got from this mix -- but again, I haven't seen the series, I can't tell how appropriate the songs are. For what it's worth, I really liked the flow between songs, and it was cool to have an opportunity to hear some bands I'd never heard -- in particular Méav Ní Mhaolchatha -- and to appreciate those that I had already heard (I'll join the chorus of Don't Fear the Reaper is PERFECT). And I really liked your artwork, it's really pretty *-* Great job here, congratulations!

Thank you! :) It's true that there's a lot of violence in the series, but it would have been discordant to have both violent/upbeat battle music and more calm/contemplative music in the same mix, so I made a choice to focus on mellow songs that fit the theme of journey. There are a couple of songs that reference the serie's violence (especially The Warpath, Never Let Me Go and of course Don't Fear The Reaper) but I was trying to recreate the atmoshpere of the show after a battle, and how the vikings think that the dead now are feasting in Valhalla and so should be envied. Thanks for letting me know your thoughts, especially since it's not a series you're familiar with!
