Notes: This is for sherlockland's challenge "New Beginnings" about rewriting Holmes and Watson's first meeting. Not beta'd and probably full of errors for everyone who's familiar with the Second Afghan War. I wrote it during lunch break and had to cut it short because it was already way longer than I meant, but I'd like to turn this into a full story and have Holmes solve the murder case.
